Pioneer Portrait Exhibit
The history of Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é is Roxbury’s history, and Roxbury’s history is Boston’s history.
Through the traveling Pioneer Portrait Exhibit, we’re sharing the history of Boston’s
only Predominantly Black Institution (PBI), a history that’s been passed along verbally
for much of the last 50+ years. A history that’s not known by many residents, but
is at the core of so much social progress in Boston. When possible, pioneers were
photographed at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, in the location that best reflects their relationship with the
College. Each portrait is accompanied by a short biography that provides information
on the historical significance of each pioneer along with a few of the many contributions
the pioneer made to the College.
