Greetings from Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é College (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)! I am humbled and honored to serve as the 18th President of Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, the only Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) in the Northeast and a beacon for quality, affordable education for all Boston residents.
You will learn more about my leadership journey and year one plans on page 4 of the Gazette. You will also read a heartfelt tribute to Interim President Jackie Jenkins-Scott in this edition. I would like to personally extend my deepest thanks to Interim President Jenkins-Scott for her incredible leadership over the past two and a half years. Thanks to her hard work, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é is positioned for long-term success, and I have the privilege of building upon the exceptional foundation established by Jenkins-Scott and her leadership team.
It’s due to the strong foundation of Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é that my first two months as president have been so exciting, informative and productive. Over the past 60 days, the Reggie Lewis Center partnered with First Tee Massachusetts to offer a free golf program to area youth, we welcomed over 800 students who selected Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é as their summer learning environment, and the Center for Smart Building Technology began developing a training program for energy auditors, funded by a $1.3 million grant.
In this edition of the Gazette, you’ll learn more about Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s leadership in clean energy, STEM, and health careers, read about the incredible contributions Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é alumni are making to the College and the commonwealth, catch up on the latest news from Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s Center for Economic and Social Justice (CESJ), and more.
I hope the incredible leadership stories in this edition of the Gazette inspire you to create change and continue supporting Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é. I look forward to meeting you on campus and around the community and engaging with you as we develop Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.
Thank you, again, and here’s to the next 50+ years of success and excellence at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é
JONATHAN K. JEFFERSON
